At Velène Design House, we revived the home’s vintage charm, balancing original mid‑century elements, like stone fireplaces and wood paneling, with clean, contemporary lines, subtle traditional touches, and thoughtful textures.

This mid‑century ranch remodel transformed a largely untouched 1960s home into a refined, family‑ready retreat.

Client Goals
Our clients wanted to modernize their long‑held family home while preserving its nostalgic character. The aim was to honor the home’s history, incorporate durable, classic materials, and create a layered, transitional design that blended mid‑century modern influences with cozy, neutral warmth.

Design Process & Solution
Working closely with the construction team, we retained key details such as the original fireplace stone and staircase railing, lifted ceilings to remove soffits and open the space, and reconfigured the primary suite for a better flow. We reimagined the kitchen layout, keeping it separate from the dining and living areas, and redesigned all the bathrooms to modernize the layouts and incorporate timeless finishes.

Throughout the home, we layered textures and deep jewel tones against soft neutrals and wood tones—to evoke a moody yet sophisticated mid‑century feel. We furnished and styled every space, blending vintage and contemporary pieces to achieve a cohesive and comfortable home that honors its past while feeling relevant today.
